Earthseige II was really cool when I was a kid. Unbenowst to me, it was kind of a mechwarrior knock-off, but mechwarrior has a totally different spin and story. Earthseiges story is better. Prometheus, an AI takes over just like skynet and starts making factories of "Hercs" and wipes out most of humanity. Fuck mechwarrior.

Also, Megarace was cool too. All the dos games were pretty damn awesome. Watching the intro video time warped me back to childhood. I lived for these prerendered in-game videos!

I mean seriously, a 5 minute in-game video in 1994 for DOS, how fuckin' awesome was that? AFTER EVERY LEVEL.

I was more Mechwarrior myself. But I did really get into Tribes for a little bit. I never read up on the fiction to know how it went from Earthseige to Starseige & then Starseige Tribes.

I think Power Blade has some Cyberpunk influences. Heck, the first game is about destroying a Mother Computer.

omg I remember that! I'd never played it because no one had it available here, but they reviewed it and had a whole strategy guide/map for it in Nintendo Power and I always really wanted to play that game! I think it's time to dig through some roms..

UH! I just got this to work on WinUAE

Age Of Rock, it's SUPERawesome!

A friend and I used to get high really fucking stoned and play this all through the night about 13 or 14 years ago and now we get to do that again Very Happy
the music is especially cool but I'm having a hard time recording it, I can't seem to find any proper software for it and the ones I've tried so far has for some reason been unable to detect my sound card :/

It's a platformer, though. You use a boomerang for all of the action. It's intense though.

Hmm... that seems interesting. Maybe I will give it a try, if I can find it, that is.

If you are into DOS games and got yourself Wasteland. Then get yourself 2400 A.D; also full of cyberpunk influences.

Unless someone in the rom community has managed to rectify the issue, the problem with playing Wasteland these days is that a good portion of the story text was not in the game iteself but in the accompanying manual. You would get to a point in the game and it would tell you to read the paragraph on a certain page in the book.

I am very happy that this new topic i made got so many replies. As a 40 year old ex-hacker/nerd geek cyberpunk rocker from space, i still like to play retro and old games.

A lot of old games dont have the bling blinga hi-tech grafix of today, but they have the gameplay that keeps them cool. even after more as 30 years.

I also liked to play Bounty Bob Strikes back on the 'ol Atari 800XL.

it was one of the first games that i had, that had the included ability for cheats. Yep , games in the 80s, where programmers included cheats.

Bounty Bob Strikes Back was a very addictive platformer, with a lot of levels.

^ Hmm, that's nice.

Despite being a generation Z, my first Console was Atari 2600 -- And I remember playing the in-built games. I remember the bike and the boxing games -- and I think there was a Karate game too.

"While the graphics may seem primitive by today's standards, today's gameplay seems primitive by NetHack standards."
Says this dude.

the original 2600 didn't have any built in games.
