It's amazing what you can find. the clip almost reminds me of the one OVA I saw called Kite.

I remember seeing Kite when it came out. That was one f'ed up anime.

It had its moments. I didn't care for the ending but I like a good drama with at least a semi-happy ending.

That's a new one on me, the wikipedia page is neat if it's accurate.

Why?

If your asking I'm guessing you have'nt seen the anime. All I can say is that it's only real purpose is to be disturbing.

I don't think that's true at all. Do you hold other grotesquely violent or disturbing films to the same standard? Most have strong artistic merit that goes beyond the disturbing nature of the visuals and plots, and Kite is no different.

the story itself was rather interesting, I won't ruin it but there was a lot of justice although one of those I would have liked to have seen go by the wayside. But I'm an old man who like a semi-happy ending.

I won't disagree that there is a great deal of subjectivity in art. And I can't really say what the motivation behind the movie was. So perhaps being disturbing isn't its only purpose, though I suspect its a major element. I certainly wouldn't call it high art. And i certainly stand by my original point that it is a f'ed up movie. Wouldn't you agree on that point?

This thread contains my rant after watching the whole series.

I had a feeling it had been mentioned here on the forum before.

I agree that the whole move is on something. High art this is not, by any stretch of the imagination. But I have not watched it again since the first time, nor do I want to. It's not a movie I want to see again even if it was not extremely objectionable. I have better things to watch.

Did a Cowboy Bebop marathon last night and realized it has a good amount of cp-themes, like hacking, gene experiments, AIs, nanomechanical virus (the movie) and the prostheses for the obvious.
Although it lacks a little bit on the philosophical part, since crappy giant robo-suits are enough to consider an anime cyberpunk, Bebop is worth to be recommended.

At last itīs worth to be watched. Wink

I know Bebop and I watched the Series, I loved especially the cool music. My favourite episode was Mushroom Samba.

I didn't thought about the series as Cyberpunk yet.
