Doesn't seem like anyone really shared my interest in Jack Womack (sadly!!!), so how about taken a step back? I am currently collecting first prints of some the classics within the genre. Stuff like Gibson, Sterling, Cadigan, Stephenson, Womack etc. So what im looking for is high quality Cyberpunk fiction from the 80s and early 90s. Plus a chance to discuss favorite writers. So bring it on! Twisted Evil

I read one book from Philip K Dick - Time out of Joint

and i also have Burning Chrome and the Sprawl Trilogy (Neuromancer, Count Zero and Mona Lisa Overdrive) written by William Gibson.

I also have a dutch compilation of several short stories and it is called "De volbloed stoeipoes", about a robotics specialist who specialises in creating gynoids (robotic women) for wealthy customers. Untill one day his customer wants a woman who has the inteligence of Einstein, the musicallity of Chopin/Beethoven, the lust/charm of Marilyn Monroe and...

an added secret ingredient, that she sometimes has a mind of her own....

the story unfolds, and in the end, the robotic woman has killed her husband, because the rich man used to have sex with other woman. Then the robotic woman returns while holding the corpse of her beloved man and knocks on the door of the professor.

He opens and she says: Father, i am back, and i have a nice present for you....

Anyhow, i like sci-fi and cyberpunk novels/fiction/fashion.

the sprawl trilogy is of course a must read for anyone into Science Fiction and not just Cyberpunk as a sub genre. Classic stuff.

Im reading Womack's Ambient right now and while it's not as focused on Technology it's still very Cyberpunk in concept.

Although I have issues with Gibson's writing (discussed in IRC with illusory a few times these past few months), I do tend to think the trilogy is a good "101 primer" to the genre.

I totally get what you're saying. I personally hate the Matrix, but it's impossible to deny the impact it had on popular culture.

I will give "the Matrix" credit for making trench coats and red and blue candies very popular.

Richard K. Morgan's Altered Carbon and Takeshi Kovacs books are pretty cyberpunk if you ask me.
