It seems, that there is not a topic about retro gaming that is actual.

So, here;s my 5 eurocents:

Talk/write about your memories of the old classics you played. the older the better. I am 40 years old, so i talk a lot about games of the 80s and the Atari era.

here is my other 10 eurocents:

Gameplay footage:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_VDM8nC9sM

Atari Star Raiders.
made for the Atari 400./800 system. Cartridge version
memory : 8 kilobytes (yep, thats 8192 bytes, not Gigabytes !!!)

first impression was : Wow man, 3D gaming. Flying in a spaceship, shooting enemies, and even a bit of tactical planning.

the guy who wrote that game, was and is simply said : a GENIUS.

made in 1979

Not sure if it was a clone, or a case of parallel development.

I think it was a clone.

Quote:
Rainbow Arts was forced to withdraw the game from sale almost as soon as it was released and cancel release of the otherwise completed ZX Spectrum version, under pressure from Nintendo's legal arm. the cover of the C64 version, published in the UK by GO! (a sub-label of US Gold), went so far as to taunt Nintendo's game with the tagline "the brothers are history".

from Wikipedia

But whatever, I liked it way more than Mario ;]

Also, when i was 15-17 years old, i played an old RPG , called Ultime IV , made by Origin Systems.

4 disks of 118 Kilobyte (single density/ one side 5.25 inch) on the Atari 8bit ,

i had the official Game manual, i wrote all down what i discovered.

I played that game for a massive 4 years every day, and then stopped.

when the internet came i looked it up on the web, and was shocked ;

after 4 years, i only had discovered only 10 % of the whole world

it takes a lifetime to play that game

Ultima IV

best RPG on the Atari 8bit

Atari 8bit Memories - Ultima III and Ultima IV

2nd place of best RPG for the Atari 8bit for all time: Alternate Reality the City (also the best version on all 8bit systems, the Atari version uses 256 colors, while the c64 only had 16 colors)

makes you think, virtual reality in a game, made in the 80s......

Intro + gameplay footage of the Commodore Amiga version

It put a wrong picture link for purpose, as you all can see the name Panasonic, and also the words :"Brave New World"

cyberpunk as hell! yeah!
