Just wanted to reiterate the simple truth that I fuckin love my Milestone. I've been playing around with custom ROMS (userspace-only, blame motorola) and this one works pretty well except for a radio crash here and there.
Dmitri, you said you were getting a new android phone. What happened to your last one? Which one are you gonna buy?
EDIT: iKonograd's post below made me check my post count at exactly the right time! I'm 1337! _________________ Knowledge is power.

I've been using Villainrom on my HTC hero for a while.
Custom roms are awesome because you can really adapt your handset to your needs.

Motorola Backflip. Hear it's a little sluggish, but hopefully an update to 2.2 will fix that. A 500MHz processor isn't shit-hot, but it's not bad. And it's what I can afford. Maybe I'll upgrade to a Galaxy S if I get a job. _________________ Art, Games, and bad writing

Didn't use the backflip per se, but I toyed around with a mock-up at a telus store and the mechanism looks as robust as it is original. _________________ Knowledge is power.

Just popping in with a few of my favorite android apps:
Laputa Reader: It's iBook for the Android and without the stain of Apple. 3D OpenGL-rendered flipping pages, open epub format... it's pretty much amazing.
Android Comic Viewer: Great little comic book reader, good customizability. Maybe not quite as good as cdisplay for the desktop, but it's pretty close.
eBuddy Instant Messenger: IMO, the best IM program available for Android
Dolphin Browser HD: Much better than the default browser.
ConnectBot: SSH client for android
Where's My Droid?: Ever lost your phone only to realize it's on silent? Text "Where's my droid?" to your phone and this app will turn the volume up for you and make it ring.
Droid Dice: Ok... so I'm a bit of a tabletop geek.
Shazam: Hear a song on the radio and have no clue what it is, but you like it? Shazam it. Shazam listens to about 10 seconds of the song and then tells you what it is, who wrote it, what album it's on... everything up to the artist's biography and discography.
Barcode Scanner: Scans barcodes, shows you information about the product, reviews, etc. Pretty useful.
Pandora: If you listen to Pandora Internet Radio, this app is a must have.
Evernote: Handy little tool for taking notes. You can take notes in text, video, or audio format. the notes are automatically synchronized with a central server, so when you get home you can instantly pull them right up on your desktop with the evernote desktop program.

Got a new phone, Samsung Galaxy S II and it is very very nice.
Been looking for a bluetooth keyboard for it now.
Also looking for the usb to hdmi cable so I can output it to the TV.
Also need to find the mini/micro (can't remember which one it is) USB to USB female adapter. This will allow me to plug memory sticks and a keyboard in (if I can't find BT keyboard) also might work for gamepads.....
Also damn this phone is way fast compared to the HTC Legend I had.
First day I got it I flashed it with a custom ROM, got rid of the horrid Samsung ROM ^_^
Hrm I wonder if I can find a portable monitor that has HDMI in... _________________ I analyse and I verify and I quantify enough

the Jorno keyboard seems designed more towards the fruit devices then Android. Not that there is anything in Bluetooth HID that will block use vs other devices.

been fucking around with ROMs for the past couple of weeks..
As soon as I got my phone, I rooted it and put a minimal 2.2 rom on it, barely any apps on it, just what you need to run the phone, basic browser and a file explorer, the rest free for you to customize (t&l .14)
I liked it, and it was serving me well, but then a friend of mine got a Nexus S, and, well, the stupidest of things got me to start experimenting.. 2.3.4 (which isn't officially out for my model phone) has a screen on/off effect that's like turning on/off an old CRT television, and, well, I love me some eye candy
So first I went trying a Cyanogenmod 7 build, and while it worked well, I was getting hardcore battery issues with it.. now MAYBE it was me messing with the CPU clocking, but the phone seemed to drain a ridiculous amount of battery even when I had the phone set to be underclocked to 500-someodd mHz on a 1gHz cpu, along with a setting to go down to like 243mHz when the screen was off.. it was draining about 15% per hour when totally idle..
Then I saw MIUI 1.6.24 and I was amazed.. Finally got everything working after a bit of playing around (for some reason it wouldn't detect my MMS and 3G Internet settings from my provider so I had to enter them manually) and I'm DAMN impressed! MIUI has different boot-screen themes, and if you want you can make your own, though it requires some XML editing, and probably a bit of Photoshop if you want to change icons, but WOW, the lockscreens and the OS itself are incredibly smooth and look damn slick! I'm actually not going to put ADW+TRON skin for the first time, I found a really cool theme called HIVE that changes all the icons to hexagons.. looks damn good!
H1VE theme is on this page
the Lockscreens (I'm using the one with the 5-points, it's great, drag to what you want to do; straight down unlocks to your home screen, down-left opens the dialer, up-left unlocks to camera so you don't have to unlock the phone, then search for the camera app, up-right is the web browser, down-right is text messaging)
