Metatron, how would you rate it on cyberpunk visuals and themes? That question also goes for Neuromancer and DannyV for their game reviews.

I would say "I have no..." would rate 8 on cyberpunkness. Deus Ex and System Shock have a more techno feel to it so a 9 on the cyberpunkness scale would be justified. IMHO ofcourse.

I still would like to know if y'all are fine with my next review being Blade Runner and after that Ripper.
And there still is the question if you think Doom3 (the game) and QuakeIV can be considered cyberpunk?

Yeah, this is a big question I think. the way you probably need to answer this is to put all the games you consider cyberpunk into a list and discuss them. Really, it makes FAR better sense to do this in totality vice one at a time. Only then can you see patterns emerge. I would say that until you do this, you're better off sticking to clear cyberpunk ones.

Also, regarding the degree of visuals and themes, this is a "very high, high, medium, low, very low" scale. I would definitely agree with you though that you reserve only the really great ones for the very high category.

Just video games then? I have a couple of game systems and books for pen and paper role-playing in Cyberpunk I might like to share.

No problem. You can review them. (In the other game review thread, there were many suggestions of Pen and Paper RPGs to review. (I also wonder why you posted your question here and not in the far more active other thread about games.) I also thought about writing a review about a Game Book, but I was insecure how to review it, so I focused on Video Games.)

I'm not sure about format myself, I did make a thread talking about a book in the review area and if there is a formula to follow I will gladly redo what I did there.

the most Common formula for user reviews on the forum is:

Title
Year:
Directed by:
Written by:
Degree of Cyberpunk Visuals: Evaluate if there are much Cyber styled graphics or low.
Correlation to Cyberpunk Themes: the Same as the VIsuals entry. (From Very Low til Very High for both entrys.)
Rating: Your rating x out of 10. (10 is the highest possible number.)

Overview: (Here, you put a general description of the medium in.)
Plot: (A brief summary of the story and you opinion on the story)
Additional Points (Gameplay, Visuals etc. Everything about the medium you want to Highlight. the number of possible points is unlimited.)
Conclusion/Verdict: (A short conclusion stating if you think that medium was good or bad. )

I may have to alter that as I'll be writing a review for a book. I love anime and movies and just about anything I can find on DVD but I am also a pen and paper gamer.

Yes, on Books, I mostly cut the "Degree of Cyberpunk Visuals" element. (Of course, as a book doesn't have visuals.)

They usually have illustrations in an RPG book. Not a ton of it but usually a few bits of art to show what is going on and for some folks to see what is being discussed. Plus visuals can also be what images pop into your head when reading the text.

I humbly disagree. A good reading session will stimulate the visual cortex of the brain.

But there is no objective measurement on which thoughts that may invoke.

It is the job of the writer to evoke images in one's mind with the selection of one's words and how they are utilized. Some people can do this very well. Others can make a game book read like a text book.

Yes, but the images are constructed by your own mind. So, some people can interpret it as more Cyberpunk and other people as less Cyberpunk. So, it's not as easy to determine a "general" value of "Cyberpunk Visuals" than on actual images.

And there lies the writer's greatest challenge. I know that from writing stories.
